Country Music's Evolution

Country music has evolved greatly from songs created by farming families and folks who, over many decades, wove aspects of blues, gospel, folk, jazz, and rock into new songs that told stories of their struggles and troubles, love and heartache, and hope despite their gloom.

No other genre of music has maintained the story telling aspect that makes country song lyrics well crafted, relatable, and memorable. If the banjos, slide guitars, fiddles, and slurred singing were removed from many songs, at the heart of country music is still a persona in each tune with deep meaning relevant to the human condition.
